Low cost modular induction motor.
The NMI motor, rated from 315 to 8,000 kW, in frame sizes 400 to 630, packs more power per kilogram which means the power required is achieved in a smaller frame size. A 4-pole, 3.5 MW motor, for example, weighs only eight tones, which is some 20 to 25 percent lighter than most comparable motors. The motor’s compact size and light weight reduces required install space and equipment to lift the motor on site.
The motor meets global minimum energy efficiency levels. It extends from 2 to 12 poles, with operating voltages up to 10 kV at 50 or 60 Hz. Ambient operating temperature is from -20 degrees to +40 degrees Celsius in the standard configuration, with optional designs down to -40 and up to +55 degrees Celsius.
The motor’s modular construction is scalable in that, for example, different bearing types can be easily fitted and air-to-water or air-to-air cooling can be adopted. The motors comply with the international standard IEC 60034 and pass very stringent testing procedures at each stage of production.
